Trevor Vanth was born on Iest, the son of a prominent ambassador. Even at an early age, Trevor felt the stirrings of his potential control of the Force. As he grew, he became fascinated by the exploits of the Jedi Knights. When Trevor was four, Senator Palpatine declared himself Emperor, and the Empire spread across the galaxy. Trevor's heroes, the Jedi, were hunted to near extinction.
Trevor's mother, the ambassador, was quite outspoken against the Empire. Eventually, the Vanth family was forced to flee Iest. They were granted refuge by Lord Julius, the ruler of the neighboring planet Palnu.
As Trevor grew on Palnu, he began to realize that he posessed Force potential. Unfortunately, he had no idea how to develop his talents. One day, while rummaging through a chest containing numerous family heirlooms, Trevor discovered the personal journal of his great-grandfather-a Jedi Knight. Even more amazing, he discovered his great-grandfather's lightsaber. At that moment, the young Trevor dedicated himself to becoming a Jedi.
One fateful night, Trevor was awakened by a prophetic dream. In the dream, he stood side by side with a Jedi named Rabin Dreadstar, whose name he instinctively knew. The next morning, Trevor booked passage to the remote world of Winath. On Winath, he found Dreadstar in hiding. He told the older Jedi about his dream. Reluctantly, the recluse agreed to train the young man.
At the same time, the pair learned of a deadly threat to the growing Rebellion against the Empire, and set out to stop it. Their quest led them to the planet Rigadoré, the sight of Rabin Dreadstar's greatest failure.
En route to Rigadoré, the pair was joined by Mara Jade, who was posing as a young woman seeking her long-lost father. The girl, who was secretly the Imperial Agent known as the Emperor's Hand, had been instructed by the Emperor to track down Dreadstar and kill him.
On Rigadoré, Jade killed the Jedi with Trevor's lightsaber. She was about to kill him as well when he instinctively reached out with the Force and pulled Dreadstar's lightsaber to his hand. Following a brief duel with Mara Jade, Trevor barely escaped with his life.
Trevor took Dreadstar's ship, the Iron Angel (and, by default the droid known as Tom Servo), and sought out the Rebel Alliance, with the intention of joining them. After several weeks, he finally made contact with the Alliance on the world of Menthos III.
Trevor joined the Alliance, and was made part of a Special Operations team which operated from the Rebel base on Aduba III. After several successful missions, Trevor's group was recruited to be a part of the new top-secret Wraith Task Force. As a member of Wraith, Trevor became the aide to Dirk Badgewick, the group's commanding officer.
During an extended mission in the fringes, Trevor was recalled to serve as temporary commanding officer of a new base being established in the Tapani sector. To smuggle the supplies, Trevor utilized the group that he would later sanction as privateers.

| Quote | "It's not my destiny...it's my choice." |
The character of Trevor came about as a result of indecision. When starting the campaign, I couldn't decide between two character templates. The Fallen Jedi template provided a tragic character whose struggle for redemption could provide inspiration for many adventures and actions. On the other hand, one of my favorite elements of Star Wars (movies, novels and comics) has always been Luke's journey of discovery as he came into his own as a Jedi...the Young Jedi template provided that take. So, I compromised...the Fallen Jedi that I had in mind became the Young Jedi's mentor. I combined two names that sounded good to me...Trevor Rabin, the guitarist from Yes, and Vanth Dreadstar, the lead character of the comic Dreadstar...to come up with their names.
Trevor is, for all intents and purposes, the most level-headed of the Wraith members. Unlike other Jedi we've seen (including Luke), becoming a Jedi was a conscious decision for him, rather than outside forces pushing him in that direction. It was only after a prophetic dream (setting the pattern for Trevor's Force talents working better on an instinctive level instead of a conscious level...at first, anyway) that he sought out Rabin Dreadstar for training.
Update 5/28/99
Well...it happened with Aaron Allston's Wraith Squadron books, and
it's happened again with Star Wars - Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
What happened again? Official Star Wars material has mirrored elements
of our RPG campaign. If you take a look at Trevor's history and Rabin
Dreadstar's history, you may be struck with a sense of deja vu when comparing
the duel with Mara Jade and the duel between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Darth
Maul. Just another case of great minds thinking alike.
