Kelody Dreadstar was the only daughter born to Jedi Knight Rabin Dreadstar while he was possessed by the spirit of a dead Rig'hal named Valtaine. Valtaine had met and married Marissa Kale while possessing Dreadstar, and the couple produced Kelody. Marissa died a short time after Kelody's birth, and the resulting grief allowed Dreadstar to reassert control and exorcise Valtaine. He took Kelody as his own daughter and, because of the unique circumstances, the Jedi Council allowed Rabin to begin training Kelody in the ways of the Force himself. When Supreme Chancellor Palpatine declared himself Emperor and began a systematic purge of the Jedi, Kelody was sent into hiding. Rabin himself did not know her exact destination, trusting in the Force to help reunite them when the time was right.
Kelody was among the refugees taken in by the Jedi Master Plett on Belsavis. There, Kelody continued her tutelage under the guidance of another Jedi Master, K'rk Sabo. Eventually, the refugees were forced to flee to escape Imperial attack, and Kelody (along with other students) remained with Sabo. This group then went into hiding on Delucia, where Sabo continued to train the children. Lacking true Jedi equipment, the students had to make do with what was on hand. When it came to combat training, Kelody excelled at the use of a staff. As they were ready, the children began to leave Belsavis, going out into the galaxy to quietly work against the Empire and carry on the Jedi traditions. Kelody left when she reached the age of 18, determined to find her father.
Sabo had instructed his students in lightsaber construction, despite having no materials with which to actually bulid a saber. In her travels, however, Kelody assembled the required components. Because she was more comfortable and proficient with a staff, she constructed a double-bladed saber, similar to those once wielded by the Sith Lords Exar Kun and Darth Maul.
Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, Kelody felt a tremor in the Force and knew immediately what had happened - her father had been killed. She vowed to bring his killer to justice.
Just prior to the Battle of Tamaran, Kelody was found by Trevor Vanth. Seeing the young man wielding her father's lightsaber, she concluded that he had killed Rabin. After a brief duel, Trevor was able to convince her of the truth. He told her of her father's final days, and that he had died asking Trevor to find Kelody and tell her that he had loved her.
Kelody joined Trevor on a trip to Palnu, where he had grown up, becoming embroiled in an intrigue centering around Palnu's leader, Lord Julius. During this time, Kelody and Trevor grew closer together, falling in love. Following the incident on Palnu, however, they agreed to part company for a time, Kelody seeking Rabin's killer and Trevor returning to Wraith Task Force. Both of them promised, however, that they would find one another again.
Kelody continues to travel the galaxy searching for her father's killer and doing what she can to topple the oppressive Empire. It is almost a certainty, however, that her path will cross those of Trevor and Wraith Task Force often.

Kelody started out as just an element of Rabin Dreadstar's back-story, never intended to be used. In fact, her name went through many a change. The structure of Rabin & Trevor's stories simply required that Rabin have a young, red-headed daughter that Mara Jade could impersonate. As time went on, however, I began to see a story taking shape in my mind involving Trevor and Kelody meeting. That story required that her own personal history be fleshed out a bit more. Once the story was begun, it was only natural that I create some stats for her, as it's almost guaranteed she'll show up in an adventure at some point.
