Brak was born an average child, and like many young men in the galaxy, was fascinated with flying.  He showed a natural aptitude for flying, winning several competitions on his homeworld.  He briefly joined his homeworld's defense force, but as the Empire began to arrive on-planet in larger numbers, he was able to see first-hand what the New Order was all about.

Disagreeing with the Empire's philosophies, Brak began to seek out contacts within the Rebel Alliance in an attempt to join them.  Eventually, on the world of Menthos III, he found the people he was looking for.  He also became involved with a grop of individuals during an Imperial raid of a cantina, and joined the Alliance with the rest of them.

Brak tested out very well on the Incom X-wing fighter, and was assigned to the fighter squadron stationed at Aduba 3.  Much to the chagrin of Cris Vanderhoff--the pilot who had made contact with Brak and the others on Menthos III--Brak quickly gained a reputation among the squadron as the best pilot in the group.  Brak and Cris both also served with a SpecOps group that was formed from the others involved in the Menthos III incident.

That SpecOps group was recruited to form the core operatives of the new Wraith Task Force, and Brak went with them, becoming a member of the group's Wraith Squadron as Wraith Six.  As the group was entirely covert, Brak painted his X-wing predominantly black with some gray and white highlights.  In an effort to alleviate some of the tension between Brak and Cris, Wraith Leader assigned them as wingmen, a tactic which worked to a degree.

On a scout and rescue mission to a Rebel base that had dropped contact, Brak was snared by a beast that had been genetically engineered by the Empire.  As he was about to toss a grenade into the beast's mouth, it bit off Brak's right arm between the elbow and wrist.  Brak survived the attack, and received a bionic replacement for his hand.  Brak was also injured on his next mission with the Task Force, which led to a brief running joke among his squad mates as to which body part he would lose on the next mission.

For a pilot, Brak was quite fond of explosives--particularly grenades and thermal detonators--and wasn't always careful about his surroundings when using them.
